Do I oversimplify considering 'shimmy' just a resonance?

Squeaking chalk is similarly resolved: just break off the tip to end
the resonance achieved by the current chalk length.

Likewise, touching a knee to the top tube, touching a handlebar, etc.

So, it has something to do with your whole gig, and shifting this or

As another data point, my 65cm Redwood has never shimmied, no-handed
or not, fendered or not. I can't speak to different tires because it
has always used the original Ruffy Tuffies. From what i remember from
a question to John at RBW, my Redwood has a tube or two in common with
the Atlantis, but it's probably a bit lighter tubing otherwise. I do

I get this on my Romulus, 59mm, when I have any load at all up front. Even if I put my light on the handlebar. Touching the top tube with my knee instantly resolves the issue.

To: "RBW Owners Bunch" <rbw-owners-bunch@googlegroups .com>

allow

I have the exact same issue on a 66cm Quickbeam. I have the exact same issue on a 66cm Quickbeam. At first I thought
it was the front bag that I had on it, and removing the bag helped a
lot, but I still notice that it has a bit of the speed wobbles. I
never notice it though as long as even a finger is on it.
Nevertheless, it is bizarre. And yes, I do ride fenders and the small

I have a suspicion that even a stout steel frame as large as you guys
are riding has some flex characteristics that a carbon fiber or
oversized aluminum frame doesn't have. Have you tried the higher
friction headset thing that seems to work some of the time?
Doug

Mint Baggins CB for sale. I bought this a few months back and used it a couple of times. I decided to go with a different set up for the back . This bag has been sitting around since . It's like new. Same color as the one in the photo on the Riv site.
Asking $130.00 shipped.
Thanks,
Derrick

 I have a 68cm custom Riv, it's not a no-hands bike either. It
descends like it's on rails though, so long as I keep my hands on the
handlebars. I have had it up to speeds of 55.1 MPH in your fine state
and felt reasonably safe doing it. In fact I have never had a more
stable bike. It just doesn't like being ridden no-handed. I can live

I'm 4 months into my love affair with my new 68cm Atlantis. As a big
rider (6'5"), I had hoped the big frame and great wheels would allow
me some no-hands riding stability. However, when I let go, I get big
shimmy fast. The wheels are great -- wonderfully built and pretty
dang true. Thought it might be the weight of the big Schwalbe

 Hey all -

I realize that there's a lot of interest in the Tour, Tour riders,
etc, but it really is OT for this list. I realize that this morphed
from the carbon v. steel thread, but it would be good if we could put
the brakes on it. Thanks!

BTW - There are some Tour threads going on over on the iBob list.

Since I started this, I'm going to summarise :-

1. The bikes you see in the race are generally next year's model of
what you can buy in the shops.
2. All bikes in the race must comply to a minimum weight
specification. There is no weight advantage in using carbon fibre.
3. To be fast you really need aerobic capacity. That's true. Still, there's at least 10-15 riders faster than Herrera.
Then again, wasn't Herrera also suspected of doing some kind of
doping? If that's the case, then maybe the only *true* rider on the
list is #28, Fausto Coppi, who set the record back in 1952, and didn't
even break 45 minutes! But, he used a steel bike and everyone knows
