I wish that were my Christmas tree with the bike standing in front.

Looks great.
Love the Fat Franks with sidepulls - that's cool!

you ran 559s on your Hillborne? Or are they 584 Fat Franks?

or is that a 56cm Hillborne with 622 Fat Franks?

As far as I can tell from Schwalbe's web site, the Fat Frank does not
come in a 584 size, only 559 and 622.

...hence my question. Which ones are we looking at in the photo?

If they are 622's then I'm pleasantly surprised that my Hillborne
might take them, too.
If they are 584's then I'm pleasantly surprised because I didn't think
they were made in that size.
If they are 559's then I'm curious about some of the details of
running 559's on a 584 frame.

56 frame and I see the tires have 622 on them.

Cool tires, nice bike. So these are the 50mm 700C Fat Franks? Almost
looks like you'd be able to squeeze fenders in there as well? (I know
you can get SKS P50 fenders over 42mm Marathon Extremes, and I assume
these 50mm Fat Franks run closer to 44mm (like the Big Apples). So,
Jim, can we see some photos of the fender clearance at the fork crown,
seatstay, and chainstay bridges?

Congrats,

I would be interested in how they look after several road miles.  I don't know but was told that keeping them clean looking was a pain.

I covet them.. I went the lazy way on my Bombadil and went with black for fear of that . ..

Actually not sure if you can fit P50s or P45s on a Sam (Paul Yeoh has
SKSs over 40mm Marathon Extremes on his Sam, but I don't actually know
which model; just assumed it was the P50s, but see now that Riv claims
the P45s fit over 40mm tires). Probably best to check with Rivendell.

Just chiming in on the look and cleanliness. Whatever you've been
riding on the last mile, they adopt its properties. Fresh wet pavement
will turn the middle-stripe black. Old dry cement will lighten it up.
A wet sandy path will get them nearly-new. They lose the pristine look
instantly, but don't look much different thereafter and they wear grit
well.

Rode them 6 months on my black Albatrossed Surly Trucker. Classy.
Took them off to fit fenders for the rainy season. They'll be back in
the spring.

very fopish I would say... perfect for a tweed ride!

I'm sure you will enjoy your new Sam. I had one for a while and was
very happy with the ride... and that orange.. whew!

P50 SKS fit on my Sam (Waterford 60cm, in case it matters)

I was told by someone at Rivendell that fenders will not fit with
these tires. I then switched to the Jack Brown blues but switched back
because I decided I'd prefer the Sam with the Fat Franks and no
fenders than the other tires with fenders. I may be mistaken but that
is my best recollection of my conversation.

best,

Jim
