If the Raven Studio silverlight client is connected to a RavenDB server that goes offline, the error message it creates is just absurd and scary. I think it would be much more beneficial if it was friendly was a small message that just said "Hey it appears the server has gone offline" with a big refresh button to reload the app when you know its back online. You could still leave the crazy exception in a link like "show full details" or "show technical information" etc.

Or even perhaps just switching to polling the url for the server to have come back online every minute, or perhaps like replication failure durations does 1 minute, then doubles to 2 minutes, and so forth.

Can you please create an issue with this?

Hi

I've run into a problem where RavenDb server on my remote host is showing that it is off-line in Studio, but I can access the data perfectly well from a remote browser.

This means I can't access Studio on the remote server.

I've recycled the Raven application pools, restarted IIS and rebooted the server all to no avail.

What else should I do to get studio up and running on the server?

Note that the server version is 2127, but the client is 2101. In recent builds, I've not seen any studio.xbap files.

Every time I do a refresh on the server, Studio asks for my Windows credentials.

Thanks
Jeremy

Jeremy,
Do you have xap file there?
We recently fixed some studio issues relating to detecting disconnected servers.

Hi Oren,

I don't know where the xbap file came from. I deleted it, and the server immediately recognized the latest client version of Studio.

My procedure for upgrading, is a) stop IIS, b) copy the files into the web directory, c) restart IIS.

After removing the xbap file, it seems to have sorted itself out.

Best regards
Jeremy

Yes - I had just renamed it.

Do you want me to upload it somewhere?

Note that the file is in the root of the Web directory.

No, you can delete it, it is probably just an old remaint of the old version
