Platform-independent backup

Right now I can't use the normal backup facility, because I need to be
able to restore a backup on a different platform. So what I do is, I
use an export/import. But this involves a full re-index.

What if we would allow the import to remain the original etag? This
would allow to restore a backup of the original index store and there
would be no full re-indexing required.

We can certainly do that, sure. 

We would need to backup the indexes as we currently do, and add the index stats at the time of the backup start.

Would you be able to send a pull request for that?
