I am having a similar problem on OSX 10.6.8. I originally installed Rattle under R 3.0.0, before I found out about the RGtk2 issues. I then installed R 2.15.2 as recommended and reinstalled rattle, however I am also getting a similar message:
Rattle: A free graphical interface for data mining with R.
Version 2.6.26 r77 Copyright (c) 2006-2013 Togaware Pty Ltd.
Type 'rattle()' to shake, rattle, and roll your data.
