Sorry, I saw Jim’s note but don’t believe I can help on this one. Mainly, I recall we have had some US finishers in their 70s but beyond that, I don’t know the answer.
In all my years of PBP research and writing, I can’t recall seeing a list of our older US randonneurs at PBP. I have all the post-PBP results publications back to 1975 and the start of US participation, and they usually list the oldest finisher (who is often
French) but they don’t break it down for the oldest rider from each nation, nor do they show each rider’s age in the results.
My one thought is that Mark Thomas might be able to get access to the “big” database info from the ACP and search by age and nation, but I suspect it will miss some years from the past before it was all computerized?
Perhaps one could write a query to Jean-Gualbert Faburel at the ACP. His English is good and perhaps he could see if someone in the club could dig around… but I would not hold out a lot of hope on that approach.
