It might be pilot error.  Or not.  On our last two outings, the Track function seemed to have turned itself off.  Both times, 20 miles or less to the finish (although how it would KNOW, I have no idea).

I know that on outing #2, I did not touch the tracker.  Maybe I will have to look at it from time to time, rather than just at controls, to ensure continued tracking function.

Anyone else notice this?

The track function turns off automatically after 24 hours. Is this possibly what happened? I usually just manually turn it off, then on again at a convenient location if I know I'll be riding over 24 hours continuously.

The timing suggests that would very likely be it.  Thanks!

You have to reset the SPOT every 24 hours. Limitation of the system...
When bikepacking I usually turn it off when napping / sleeping.
Have used it on one 400k that took (me) 25 hours, at the last control with 80 miles to go I turned it off, took care of food / water, then turned it on again.

It doesn't affect the track on Google maps - the difficulty I had is remembering to restart it every day.  I now do it when I take my morning medications (canusually remember them!)

Eric - I generally turn it on when getting ready to ride and put it into my rear bag out of the elements, and forget about it. (It appears to have no trouble sending out a signal through the bag.). Since I am not one to sit on my bike for more than 3 to 4 hous at a stretch (must be one of the advantages of Roland's 'bent that can allow him to stay on the bike for that long without needing to stop!)! I'll find somewhere down the road where I'll stop and do the reset.  For a longer ride, such as the one in Texas last week I turned it off when arriving at the sleep stop and turned it back on prior to departing - more to save batteries as the lithium batteries are expensive.  For shorter rides such as this weekend I'll generally do the reset when I stop off in the evening to get all reflectored up.
