Wow. I bought a new 2 GB micro SD and
replaced the first one I had put in. Logged on and downloaded the Garmin
Map again -long download-- and now I can zoom in and find little
streets and backroads. There is almost TOO much information for that little
screen, but there is an easy way to select how much detail you want with about 6
levels, plus the extra map can be turned off, leaving only the main streets of
the base map showing.
It would be nice if the updating was a little
faster as you scroll off the screen, but it works fairly quickly. I guess
I will have to go get lost to see if I like the way the detail and turn-by-turn
can help me out.
Before the update I was up in Dayton, OH and was
trying to use it to get around a bit --- not a good thing in the car, but I was
careful and now really appreciate the talking Nuvi my wife has!----
anyway, as I was trying to get back to I-75 it was not doing a good job.
Then I realized I still had it set to avoid major roads. . . . I guess the human
brain is still the most important part of the equation. This could put me
at a disadvantage.
