The directions leave a bit to be desired.

So there are two sets of leads coming out of the thing. The red and
blue go to the taillight (which I did not purchase) and the white
leads go to the dynamo, from what I can gather. Is this correct?

For those of you who aren't running the taillight, what did you do
with that lead? I don't really want to trim it, in case I want to buy
the taillight later, but it's gonna be in the way.

Just tape the tail light wires to the leads going to the dynamo and they
will be fine and very unnoticeable until you need them.

Well that idea was sound, but as it turned out there are no spades in
the bag to connect to a Schmidt hub. Wasn't expecting that. Oh well,
guess I'm not riding with it tomorrow.

I decided to not use the spades when I made my setup.

I used a USA caravan/trailer 2-pole molded connector. Soldered one
side to the spades I got from Peter and soldered the other end to the
E6 and E6Z.

This way I can disconect the sysstem at a less stressful point and
wear out a connector designed to be plugged and unplugged with some
frequency (spades are not)

I'm sure there are british/euro equivalents...

For future reference, you can get 0.187" push on connectors at an auto parts store (smaller than the "standard" connectors) that will fit the Schmidt Hub with no trouble.  You'll need a crimp tool for the connector, but they work perfectly.  Good to know in case you need to effect a repair on a brevet, assuming you can find an open auto parts store.

Jim, Ted, & All,

We overlooked the necessity to include extra spade connectors and heat
shrink tubing with the E3 lights.

So. . . . .

All future shipments will include two 4.8mm spade connectors and heat shrink
tubing at no extra charge. If you purchased a light and didn't get them,
drop me a note with your mailing address and I'll sent them along.

And oh, we sold out our first shipment of E3's quickly. Just two of the
fork mount models left, currently. More are due in by the end of the month.
We will also have conversion kits the change the handlebar version to
standard mount and vice versa.

Elton,

I did get some heat sink tubing, so I do appreciate that. And I do
appreciate your quick and constant input to this process. I was
disappointed to not be able to ride with it this weekend but part of
that was my fault, had a miscommunication with UPS on the Thursday
delivery. They showed up at 2:44 and I of course was at work. I
called the 800 number and asked them to hold it, the automated voice
said "someone will call you back within the hour". Well that call did
not come until 10 minutes before closing time at the warehouse. When
I hurried over there to get it they then told me that someone had
thrown it back on the conveyor belt to go back into the sorting area
with 10,000 other packages by mistake. ARGH!!

Once I finally picked it up Friday at 12:00, there wasn't enough time
before the Saturday morning start of the 600K to be able to do
anything but a plug-n-play installation, since I had to pick up a new
casette for my bike and run early registration from 7-9 PM, plus get
dinner oh and work the rest of the afternoon. Oh well. I used my
DiNotte and my Cateye as I had done previously. I will be trying it
out soon enough at any rate.
