Seattle randonneur and adventure cyclist Pat Rodden was recently
injured, not on his bike, but in a terrible accident inside his
house. Pat has done PBP twice and he is one of the original Seattle
International Randonneurs. However, he is probably best known for a
bicycle trip he did to the Arctic in 2006. Pat’s trip journal is
riveting and over 125,000 people have read it:

Pat’s journal inspired other cyclists, including randonneurs such as
myself, to cast off our fears and follow his lead to the wilds of the
far north on the adventure of a lifetime.

Pat is slowly recovering with intense rehabilitation but the costs of
his treatment have resulted in his family losing their house and just
about everything else, including Pat’s bikes. Updates on Pat’s
current predicament can be found at the Pat Rodden page at
