I heard that the total number of ACP KMs in 2010  would determine rider prioritization within the quota - is this not the case?  Because I then heard this was not the case. I believe RUSA needs to clarify this as soon as possible.  I  really need to understand this process because I am trying to arrange my vacation and determine on-call responsibilities in 2010 in order to complete some brevets.  I am sure I am not the only person needing to begin making arrangements.  Melissa

Melissa,

Do you recall where you might have heard that the total number of an individual's  kms in 2010 would directly affect
that same individual's  prioritization? I'm an RBA for the San Francisco Randonneurs and I don't think
anything has been sent from RUSA that would lead one directly to that conclusion. It's also my understanding
that RUSA  itself awaits further information from ACP on  this topic. The summary of understanding that was
sent to the list earlier seems like an accurate description of what  is known  so far.

I guess the ultimate message is we all need to wait and see. The
original language that leads to the idea that a rider can improve
their individual chances at PBP comes from the September 2nd RUSA
announcement:

"For riders, the ACP indicates that if someone rides more and longer
ACP brevets in 2010, that rider will have a registration priority over
other riders in that country who ride fewer, shorter ACP brevets.
(That means, an American rider can move him/herself up within the
American quota by riding more and longer brevets.) "

Thanks, Rob, for the excellent answer to this concern that is being voiced today my several RUSA members. The November issue of American Randonneur will have a Q&A on the topic, but as SF RBA Rob Hawks says, until the ACP settles its plans for PBP 2011 there is much that is still not known.

RUSA will continue to pass on any information to our members as soon as it becomes available via our website and newsletter. Once we understand RUSA’s role (if any) in helping the ACP manage their event’s quota, we’ll post it on the announcements page of our website found at www.rusa.org/announce.html.

Stay tuned for details,
