Subject: snapshots from San Francisco Randonneurs' 200k "Lighthouse" brevet yesterday
Yesterday the San Francisco Randonneurs ran an out-of-season edition
of the traditional January "Lighthouse" 200k brevet.

Like most SFR rides, its start and finish controls are at the Golden
Gate Bridge.  Every time I do one of these rides, which begins and
ends with a ride across the bridge, I fall in love with the bridge a
little bit more.  It's just magnificent.

I think there were some sixty-odd riders registered for the event, and
the day was sunny with moderate fall temperatures.

This 200k heads north from SF and makes its way to the Point Reyes
National Seashore.  We make our way out to the lighthouse at the tip
of the peninsula that helps define Drake's Bay for the first of two
controls, and then reverse course to head back to the Pacific Coast
Highway (Highway 1).  We go north on 1 to the second control at a
small eatery called The Marshall Store, and then make our way back to
SF.

I find the scenery to be simply stunning and couldn't help but take
far too many snapshots.  Here are some of them:

(Apologies for the slow connection!)

If you like what you see, come join us in January.  The route has a
decent amount of climbing, and there is usually a bit of wind for some
of the course.  However, I am pretty confident that I can guarantee no
snow!

The park service limits us to 100 riders, so don't dawdle with your
registration if you'd like to come along. :)
