Nice rides from Portland OR

Hi Portland area randonneurs,
My wife and I will be visiting Portland for a few days next week and
would like to see as much of the area as possible in a somewhat
limited time. Do you have favorite routes (preferably with cue
sheets) from Portland in the 30 to 130 mile range? Is there a road
that I absolutely must see while in the area? Thanks in advance for
any suggestions or cue sheets.

If you get to do one long ride, it has (in my opinion) to be the Bridge of the Gods ride.   It's a loop from East portland, over the I-205 bridge to Washington, East along the north shore of the Columbia to the Bridge of the Gods, into Cascade Locks on the Oregon side, and then back to East Portland on the Historic Columbia River Highway.

I'd second the Rock Creek ride Mike recommended from the Rubber to the
Road guide. There's a nice brewpub there too, if you want a break.

There is construction on both SR 14 around Cape Horn, necessitating
the Washougal River Road detour and possibly the Scenic Highway. I'd
check before heading out. That said, one could ride from Portland out
to Multnomah Falls and back, and avoid all the potential construction
(which may have started yet. check first.)

The OrRando Birkie Brevet is March 20.

Ride up to Council Crest and around the Fairmount Loop.

Ride out Skyline Drive

If you go to bikely.com and look for routes created by lynnefitz,
you'll see some of mine mapped out.

If I'm not working (yes folks, I am starting a contract Real Soon Now
after a very long period of unemployment :-) ) I could ride along, or
meet you somewhere and chat about where to ride.
