The bicycle is there, of course. Interestingly, the picture is a Rene
Herse! Now that is a nearly unimproveable gadget (despite decades of
"advancement" since its construction).

In the same vein, they cite the wristwatch, generally, but show a
picture of a mechanical watch. Interesting parallel, there. Lots of
new technology has been brought to watchmaking since the late sixties,
but, aside from price, have watches improved as a result?
