I sketched out a Sierra loop, starting and ending in Yosemite Valley, that appears to meet the SR 600k criterion. The route is beautiful; crossing 4 alpine passes, the east side high desert, and west slope gold country river canyons. I drew it out counter clockwise, but now I believe it would be better to ride in the other direction. If the actual elevation and mileage come up a bit short, there are plenty of additional miles and climbs in the gold country back roads.  Let me know what you think. If enough people show interest and offer feedeback, I'll organize a tourist paced scouting/surveying ride after Tioga Pass opens in the spring and try to get it registered as a perm sometime next year.

Looks great, Alex. I like the idea of riding it clockwise and ending with the climb over Tioga Pass, then passing through some of the most scenic parts of Yosemite before dropping back down into the valley to finish.
If you make any mods it would be nice if the route could poke into Nevada, so finishers would get another state for the RUSA American Explorer award.

Roland and Kimber, Thanks for ths input.  A four mile each way out-and-back north from the junction of 395 and 89 would put you in the town of Topaz Lake, Nevada, where there is a Best Western. This might make a good sleep point if riding clockwise. It would be a hard 235 miles getting there, but at least 2 out of 4 really big climbs would be done.

I was thinking the same thing about Nevada!

Great route, Alex. I could see taking the kids to Yosemite (with a babysitter), and going for a ride mid-week!
