I am looking for the widest tire for a tandem for lightly loaded
touring, total weight of 350 lb. (bike, riders, gear.) I have limited
fork clearance -- a 35mm Panaracer Tourguard leaves only 3 mm clearance
to the center of the fender.
Thanks for the help,

Could you speculate how wide that would be on a Mavic 520
(wider) rim?
Any opinions on plusses and minuses of Marathon Racer compared
to Marathon Supreme and to Panaracer Tourguard?
Thanks,
Rob Johnston

Circumference is pi times diameter and the rim forms a part of the
circumference, so the mounted tire should get about a millimeter wider
for every three (ie, pi) millimeters the 520 is wider than the MA2 (e.g.
1mm wider for ~22mm rim width, 2mm for ~25mm, etc.).
This is a pretty gross approximation, but it should be good enough.
