I had issue with installation of Rubyinstaller. I'm running Mac OS X 10.8.1

Ran the installer that says it is for version 10.7 & 10.8. Installation looked to be going well until i hit the following error message near the end of the installation process.

ERROR MSG
Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly
Error running sud su username -c 'bash -c "PAT=\"$PATH:/opt/sm/pkg/active/bin\" git config --global user.name \ "gituser"\"": error: could not lock config file /Users/username/.gitconfig: Permission denied

username: my computer username for os x
gituser: the name i selected in process for github. did not have any previous user setup to attempted install

Any idea how to resolve? Thanks in advance for any help. Can't wait to get installed, always seem to hit little roadblocks

it should just work, there is a fixed ticket for it on github - but we did not get chance to release it yet

Thanks for your review & help. Does that mean best option, is to wait for new release & re-install at that point? Also, if yes, will i need to remove & then install again or will it just recognize files that already exist and it will not disrupt clean installation.

thanks again

it might take quite a lot of time, try using rvm for it:

    \curl -L https://get.rvm.io | sudo bash -s stable --ruby
