Hello Group!

I love this book it has helped me develop an awesome ROR app.

Quick question for you all.

Has anyone implemented a digital product yet? Or have any idea how to?
Or where to start?

Let continue this discussion!

Regards,
Adam

What do you mean by a digital product? An ebook, or software? Are you
interested in how to sell them through an e-commerce site or what do
you mean by implementing a product?

Digital products -- MP3's, PDF's, etc. For me not software but for
others possibly.

I am interested in selling them thought the ROR app. that was created
in the book. How would one integrate a digital product into this
application? When I say integrate I mean not have them be charged
shipping, provide them a download link, and have a download counter.
Something like that.

Does that make sense?

Sure. You'd just have to implement some kind of hashing system to
check against so that it's not possible to guess the url of a file. I
think you can learn a lot by just browsing through a site like http://peepcode.com
and take notes of its site and url structure.

You can associate a hash with an order line for example and check
against that when a user tries to download the file.

Sorry about the brief answer, in a bit of a rush at the moment.
