I'm planning on giving a talk on Japanese at Railscamp X.

What would people be interested in knowing?
* Is it a difficult language to learn?
* How much benefit is there from learning some Japanese?
* How to learn the language - are classes available for learning Japanese?
* Should I learn in Romaji (Roman alphabet) or kana (Japanese alphabets)
* The history of the language (eg how Chinese, Portuguese, ... and
then English influenced the language, and how the kana evolved over
time)
* Whether learning the language will help you "pick up"
* Grammar
* Vocabulary

For those wondering about the email heading, see

Hey Andrew,

Sounds interesting. I'm less interested in hearing about specific
points of grammar or vocabulary than I am in all the other stuff.

Having said that, any grammatical oddities might be interesting too.
For example, this blog post about Arabic explains some grammar at a
level that's of interest to the casual reader/listener:

Cheers,
Chris
