Hi All,

I'll be taking down talks for the October edition of RORO. The venue
is unconfirmed, although I have something in mind already.

Thursday 22nd of October will be the date, arrive at 6 for a 6:30
start.

Now, the important stuff: Speakers.

I'll be looking for as many speakers as we can get, perhaps we can do
a series of lightning talks.

Your talk can be about anything that involves your craft as a
developer who messes with Ruby.
HTML5, Javascript integration with Rails, TDD, BDD, Agile, Cloud
deployment and Macruby all come to mind.

I'd like to talk about macruby, although I think @crafterm will do a
better job. So I'm nominating him here, publicly. He doesn't even know
yet. (Be warned!)

Got something to talk about? Hit me personally to discuss or talk to
the group.

I've got an intro level talk about the Agile Manifesto (I did it for
Ignite Melbourne) if the RORO peeps are interested. I like talking
about the manifesto cos it talks to good software practices and
attitudes rather than how to put cards on a wall..

I'm hoping to have a demoable dukejour (new railscamp jukebox) by
then, so @ben_h and I can show that off lightning-style.

I can give a talk on Pancake which I've ben working on for the last couple of months.  It's a rack assembler / frameworky type of thing.

I'm looking to give it a somewhat official introduction so #roro would work well :)

Great! Thats four talks (Sorry @crafterm, I'll do it if you're
unavailable)
My only issue is that its (some) of the regulars speaking.

If you've got something you've been pushing around that is even semi
interesting
(maybe you didn't write it? maybe you had a huzzah moment?) please
give a 3-5 minute
talk this month.

No worries, thanks for the dob-in :) I'm happy to do a few minutes

I should make it very clear (it wasn't, sorry) that the four people
who have opted to talk will talk if they can and I think its totally
awesome that they have offered their services (again). You guys rule.

looks like a great meetup - can you guys bring it on the road to
Sydney?

am particularly interested in macruby and agile manifesto... perhaps
you guys should just film and publish your sizzle :D

I'm really going to make a push to ensure that recording of the
sessions happens.
Also, a podcast of all the meetup content from around the country.
(Leave it with me)

I should note that the RORO meetup will actually fall on the 29th, not
the 22nd.
Thanks to those who pointed the rule out to me.

I've created a Textmate helper for writing Cucumber Stories. I can
give a 5 min talk on that

Sure Chris. Sounds good.
I'll now opt to fill our last speaker spot with a secret
_international_ speaker.

More details on venue coming next week. This one is going to be a
ripper!

Chris, what/where are the helpers? Can we migrate them into Ben Mabey's Cucumber.tmbundle?

Cheers
Nic

I love autocompletion. I forget how to spell.

I guess its too late to tell you, the current Cucumber.tmbundle has an autocomplete mechanism for steps.

Nonetheless, your's might be full of more awesomeness than the current one in the Cucumber.tmbundle. Are you interested in merging your codez into the common bundle if yours is better or if has things that are missing?

If you have a poke around the Support folder you'll see how the internal tests are written etc (bmabey did a great job setting up the test suite here; worth a look for anyone writing textmate bundles).

Chris and Glen, I don't have your contact details. Please drop me a
line on email so that I can work out the speaker order etc.

Venue confirmed!

RMIT Lecture hall
23-27 Cardigan St. Carlton, VIC 3053, Australia (http://bit.ly/1ME3fH)

Go in the sliding doors and down the stairs directly in front.

The 'theme' is "world class talks".
The aim of this month is to produce a world class talk.
It doesn't have to be long, just make it good.

(Can you feel the pressure yet guys?)

All talks will be recorded (unless the speaker(s)) have any
objections).
Hopefully we'll have audio and video of some description.

I'll be aiming to put these into a podcast, along with the content
from the Sydney group.
(Other groups too, just hit me and we'll work something out)

Arrive at 6 for a 6:30 (sharp) start.

See you there!

Speakers, bring a video adapter for your laptop. I don't know what
will be available on the night.
