Hi all,
Just moved over from Ireland, been a lurker in the #roro IRC channel
for the past 7 months. I've been working commercially with Ruby on
Rails for the past two years, have designed quite a few internal
systems for a company called Arvato Finance (subsidiary of Bertelsmann
group), where we handled all of Google's financial transactions, you
clicked on Adsense/Adwords/Checkout, we handled the payment.
I also used to work out of Dalian, China for a 5000+ size outsourcing
company as a programmer/analyst/team lead/project manager. I was
mainly contracted out to General Electric for some vital software
applications and projects they needed designed by a crack team of
Chinese engineers, (I was the pasty faced Irish non-Chinese looking
one).

Anyhow, I've just arrived in Sydney a few days ago, will be here for
the next few years and currently checking out the job market. Would

Even if you don't know of any positions holler back anyhow, would be
great to get to know more Ruby/Rails people over this side of the
world.

Welcome to Syd. Will we see you at the meetup next wednesday night?
I heard a rumour that people from the Irish part of the world enjoy the
consumption of alcoholic beverages, so I assume the answer is yes :-)

@Andrew Snow, yup, I'll definitely be there. And yeah, we do have a
reputation of drinking everyone under the table. I've only lived in a
bar since I was 7, so I'm not entirely sure I can take all of you in
an one-on-one drinking competition.
@Torm3nt, it is true, some of us like fighting, I on the other hand
like drinking and writing code when drunk. I might not understand how
I did what I wrote, but it seems to work.

Next meetup will be my first, look forward to meeting you, seems you have quite a large belt with that experience =)
