Ok, this is me putting up my hand for another "lightning" talk for next month, if you'll have me back :)

The topic will be (loosely) "an emacs primer, episode #1: lovely keybindings you'll use every day without even opening emacs (for bash, zsh, and OS X), made doubly appealing by the absence of flow control"

If I have time, I'll also attempt to include a short sideline in one of the following:

1) my $SHELL is better than your $SHELL, episode #1: sweet sweet autocomplete, a visual demonstration of the awesome goodness of zsh

2) screen: why you can't live another day without it

3) a portable userland: moving all your dotfiles into a Git repository with less keystrokes than the number of children who died of malnutrition during this very brief presentation

4) wmii: making the most of your finite screen real estate by embracing simplicity, throwing away your old assumptions, and sheer bravado

... depending on professed interest.

This time I'll bring my own laptop, prepare at least 2 slides, and furnish the desk with a swear jar (proceeds to savethechildren.org.au).

fair call :)

We should prolly prefix anything to do with meetups in the city that
they belong to.

On that note I'll be putting together a feedback form about the change
of venue last night - or should we discuss it on list? (might annoy
any non-sydney-siders, though)

*sniffs the air*

I think I smell a gauntlet being thrown down.

What exactly does 'a gauntlet being thrown down' smell like?

Hey Dave,

A wmii talk would be excellent - it rocks! Death to mice!

In my experience, that depends to a great extent whether it's been worn repeatedly in the rain.
