Hey,
I wrote a gem called *i15r* ([link]).
It automates replacing "plain" strings with I18n message strings in erb or
haml templates which is a rather boring process when done manually. I'm
posting it here so that it gets some exposure and hopefully feedback. So I
encourage you to run it in your ruby projects and let me know how it worked

I'm pretty sure this is because the flash message is looked up *before* you change the domain and stored in the session. You can get the correct locale by doing something like:

I18n.t('my.flash.message', :locale => user.language)

In the controller before you redirect.

I've created a gem called i18n_scopes.
it lets you specify helper methods with default scopes, so you don't need
to always
supply the :scope option to your t method.
it is also possible to have dynamic scope parameters, like the class name
or the modules path

Sorry for replying to my own post, but I found a workaround: It seems that
ruby_parser cannot deal with Ruby 1.9 syntax yet, so if your HAML files
contain any Ruby 1.9 syntax in their Ruby, it will break gettext's
gettext:find rake task (it relies on ruby_parser).

It seems ruby_parser is required to parse HAML files for gettext msgids
with the gettext:find rake task from gettext. However, ruby_parser doesn't
seem to work on Ruby 1.9.x.

So is it impossible to extract gettext msgids with reasonably new Rubies
and HAML?

Yaml returns string only. So, I guess what you can do use

The grammatical term is noun cases. See my previous

What we ended up doing at Bukowskis was to have the translator
rephrase so we didn't have to inflect the place names (in our case).
Something like "To: Eva" instead of "To Eva" might be enough.

Hi,
I'm not even sure what the grammatical name for this is, but we ran into
problems translating "to" and "from", as in "to Eva" or "from Eva".
In Finnish, our translator tells us the correct translations are "Evalle"
and "Evalta" respectively. How would you handle this case? Does the I18n
module provide a way to build some sort of inflector that can be used here?

After a big of digging, it turns out that both Globalize2 and
Globalize3 use I18n.locale as a default locale but provide a way to
override that setting.

When using Globalize2 you can do:
ActiveRecord::Base.locale = :fr

When using Globalize3 you can do:
Thread.current[:globalize_loca le] = :fr
