Hey All,
I've been leading an effort to integrate a new Ruby Group here in
Nashville (
http://groups.google.com/group/nashville-ruby-group) to
promote Ruby locally since the local community for Ruby has been a
little lackluster in the past. Basically for the promotion of Ruby as
a technology choice and to create more Ruby developers locally. That
push has lead us to consider integration in to the Enterprise LAMP
group locally to help us promote Ruby and the Rails stack. The leader
of that group, Marcus Whitney, has been very active in pressing me and
others in the local Ruby community to participate in their group and
considers Ruby/Ruby on Rails as part of the LAMP options. He has also
been very active locally in general with the development community and
helped start BarCamp in Nashville (on it's third year now). I think
this is very healthy for our community and have welcomed our
participation requests in the LAMP group. That brings me to my main
point....
Marcus, who is heading the Enterprise LAMP group is also helping
create the "Big LAMP Camp" taking place here in Nashville. Some of the
speakers include the CIO of Redhat, CEO of Zend Technologies... etc...
(check out the lineup at
http://enterpriselamp.org/). Anyways, seems
Python, PERL and PHP are well represented. I have worked to get a
couple speaker locally to discuss how Rails testing works in
comparison to the other frameworks such as Django and someone to
introduce the Rails platform to a non-rails audience. Marcus has asked
for me to find a much larger name in the Ruby community as they want 3
Ruby related talks if they can get it. I know one of you would love to
come to Nashville and represent Ruby. I would do it but I'm not as
much of a hardcore programmer as I once was and I've only ever given
one talk so I'm not the best person to do this. So, please could we
get someone awesome to represent Ruby for the Big Lamp Camp.
Marcus's email info is:
mar...@remarkablewit.com Please contact
him to get more details. If you have more questions you think I could
answer please post them back to the list.
Thanks,
