Hello List,

I've worked within a small business since its inception about ten
years ago. We've tried many different accounting packages throughout
the years but they've all suffered from clunky interfaces, excessive
jargon, and an overabundance of features that we'd never even consider
using.

For the past few months I've been working on a replacement Rails-based
system designed specifically for your average small business. As the
business I work has both an inventory (book sales) and service based
component, the package will be robust enough to cover most areas of
small business accounting.

My question for the list is: What would you like to see in a small
business accounting package? What are the features that you've just
got to have and what features could you not care less about?

Any comments or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Have you got anything to see? I've been in the same position since
this time last year, and we're still trying to get our offering
online.

Unfortunately paid work keeps getting in the way of releasing an
internal product and now that we've handed over all book keeping etc
activities to our accountant, the internal demand for Flow has dropped
as well.

Most frustrating! Still, would like to see what you're doing!
