Hi,
in the railo web administrator it's not possible to enter a datasource
connection to MS SQL-Server 2012 Express on Railo 3.3.3.000 with the
Microsoft vendor driver.

The update page hangs for a long time.

System is: Windows Server 2008 R2, IIS 7.5, Railo 3.3 and MS SQL-
Server 2012 Express.

Port 1433 is open and I can connect the database with the SQL Manager.

Which driver version is installed by railo? I think in March 2012
Microsoft published a new jdbc-driver.
How can I figure out the version of the driver used by railo?

If I would install the new driver will it eventually overwritten by an
update of railo?
If the new driver is not included in railo, are there plans to include
it?

Kind regards
Thorsten

Thanks Mark,
I will try to update the jre to fix railo as mentioned in your linked page.
Do you know, which jdbc-driver this version of railo uses?

You can see it in the folder that has the railo.jar, there is a file called licenses that you can check for your version.

I don't think it matters the version of the MSSQL driver, it's the version of Java that mainly trips you up.

Hi Mark,

1. I updated the JRE to 1.7.0_05 and got the datasource to MS SQLServer 2012 Express connected. This is fine now.
2. But the installation of Mura CMS failed.

Error: Error during database creation (2). Please ensure you have updated drivers or contact support:Der Datentyp "variant" wird nicht unterstützt. -"
3. Maybe it's the old MS JDBC-driver Railo uses. I looked at the licenses and there is a driver for 2005 included.

If I download the actual Microsoft JDBC 4.0 driver and put it in the lib-directory of railo, how does railo know to use this and not the old driver?

Kind regards

Thorsten

You just have to remove the microsoft jdbc driver jar and then just use the JDBC connection.

OR try the JTDS driver.

Thanks a lot for your immediate help, Mark, I appreciate it.

1. I installed the new MS SQL-JDBC-Driver 4.0 and entered a datasource with SQLServer 2012 Express. Fine.

2. Mura CMS does not install with it :-(

Error: Error during database creation (2). Please ensure you have updated drivers or contact support:Der Datentyp "variant" wird nicht unterstützt. -

3. Mura CMS does not install with the jTDS driver neither :-(

My conclusion: Mura CMS 5.6 is not compatible with MS SQLServer 2012 Express

Do I really have to go back to SQLServer 2008 R2 Express or even 2008?
Is there another solution? (except MySQL and Oracle)

For your information.

Mura confirmed there are issues with mura and SQLServer 2012.
I switched for now to mariaDB which is working.
