Ourgoal is to make a generic-yet-immersive collaborative interactivefiction simulation that anyone can use for any purpose. Why? So peoplecan
1.) test ideas before making a full-fledged game,
2.) be able to make an impact without creating a game or library, and
3.) to encourage team spirit (not that anyone ever noticed when Q106 switched the last verse with the one from Smells Like Nirvana). It uses the TADS 2 system with the standard and adventure definitions as it's base.

Therehasn't been any other attempt like this, as far as I know. There wasWorldClass, but that was just a definition of the standard adventuredefinitions. The idea behind this project is that it's a collaborativeworld that anyone can use. People can even make a game using this"library" and sell it with no royalties or licensing fees.

Wemight at some point rewrite a few parts of the compiler and the windowsinterpreter to read precompiled dynamic code, but that's not a givenyet. Really, it's all going to depend on what support we get.

Because of SourceForge's definitions of various things, we can not get a page there. Oh well, then.

For those of you not in the know about interactive fiction, RAIFsim stands for rec.arts.int-fiction.sim,which isn't a real usenet group. REc.arts.int-fiction deals withprogramming interactive fiction. There are several programminglanguages with which to do so, the main ones being TADS 2 and 3 andInform 6 and 7. Chaning between 2 and 3 is like changing between UNIXand NT, while changing between 6 and 7 is like changing between an Xbox360 and an Atari ST.

IMPORTANT:Read the license before including your material in the collection orincluding this library in your project. If you include material, yourelease your copyright on it to the RAIFsim library. Do not includecopyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder.
