Disabling stuff on Mac OS X when running radmind
I've been upgrading my computers from 10.6 to 10.7 and have run into various issues and so I'm looking to stop most of the processes on Mac OS X that could interfere with updating the hard disk. Does anyone do this as well? Here is my list so far. I just barely started it. I'd appreciate any comments. I run these right before fsdiff.... more »

Adobe CS6 Management
I've been playing around with our CLP Volume License for Adobe CS6 and creating custom installers via AAMEE 3.0, and I must say at this point, Richard Glaser may need to dedicate a "crappy app" shrine to the entire suite. At any rate, since it apparently cannot be fully rolled out using radmind due to some machine-specific license registration, I've been working on trying to come up with a workflow that would allow me to use excludes to ignore the locations of the machine-specific files. Thus far, I have found the following two directories, if excluded, will allow you to maintain the app, excluding the registration. using radmind:... more »

Radmind web viewer?
I recently had to devote a fair amount of time to creating software lists for various radmind managed labs. I am vaguely aware of projects to give radmind servers a web interface. Are any of these still available? I was hoping for some option to generate a list of loadsets without the viewer needing Radmind expertise.... more »

software installer update 1.0
I'm trying to create a transcript of this software update from Apple (10.6) but for the life of me when I run fsdiff I can't see which files should really be part of the transcript. I see user preferences, etc but nothing that looks to be a "core" part of the OS. Any hints on where I should be looking?... more »

10.7.4, login hooks, iHook
Apologies for the cross-post, this was posted to the Mac Enterprise mailing list as well: Interestingly, 10.7.4 appears to alter the login process somehow. Here are my observations after upgrading a test client from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4. I run a Radmind server and employ both login and logout hooks to do checks as well as run a couple of other scripts at those times but that shouldn't matter.... more »

Compiling radmind 1.14.0rc3 on GNU/Linux
I am currently trying to compile radmind 1.14.0rc3 on an Ubuntu 10.04 server. I am using ./configure --with-ssl=/usr/lib/ssl which creates the expected Makefile without errors. However, when I run make, I am getting a lot of warnings, mostly in regards to signedness. I poked around the Internet but it seems the documentation for radmind on... more »

Certificate verify failed
I just started getting this verify/expired error and I can't figure out why. I've recreated the cert using the same method that I was using before. This just stopped working about a week or so ago. I'm not sure what to even check next. Does anyone have any ideas? I've downgraded my server to -w 1 and it still prints the error. I've recreated my server cert and it still gets the error. I've rebooted my server and clients. The only thing I haven't done is recreate my CA, but I don't think I really need to do that. I guess that is my next step but I guess I'm hoping someone has an idea.... more »

fsdiff stuck
I'm running into what is for me a new problem: fsdiff is locking up on lab machines running 10.5.8 after an otherwise seemingly routine software tweak. I am having difficulty investigation it further or narrowing down the offending file beyond someplace in /Library . Are there any more detailed logs I should be checking beyond the stout from fsdiff ?... more »

10.7.3 Update
For anyone who hasn't done it yet. There may be an issue with RADMINDing the update. Some of my machines would not boot after the update. If you boot into single user mode you'll see repeated sandbox errors for just about every PID that it tries. Resolved by booting into safe mode. Interesting thing about that is you cannnot reboot once booted into safe mode (to... more »
