Hi Ben/group,

It'd be useful to have some clarification on the lookup process when
using XSI for the discovery of alternative bearers.

The process involves generating an identifier for a given service
using the obtained service parameters, for example fm:e1.c479.09580
and discovering the service and associated bearers in the XSI. My
question revolves around the use of the country identifier which can
be either the GCC (first nibble of RDS PI + RDS ECC) or the ISO 3166
two-letter country code.

It's likely that a device will have obtained only one of the two
country identifier types. To ensure a successful lookup regardless of
the country identifier type used should it be mandated that a
broadcaster MUST provide the two possible identifier combinations for
each bearer?

As an aside the latest EPG specification talks of "bearer strings" in
relation to the serviceID element whereas the example XSI document
(Section 7.1) uses an 'id' attribute.

Thanks Byrion,

I would agree with your observation - it will be unecessarily difficult to match bearers to services unless we have both forms of the FM Bearer URI in the XSI.

I propose that we mandate the service provider includes both forms in their XSI.

As for the other observation - thats my fault - will be corrected in the next draft.

Ben
