25 WPM on a hand key, from Bjorne, SM7FBJ of our R/O list.

I knew someone would finally step up to the 1sr class WT certificate code test challange.

Bjorne, many of the 1st class holders used to be able to do that, some were close enough for the radio inspector (whatever that means) and were told they'd get faster after a few P&O trips :-)

Hi David

 

The meaning of a Radio Inspector is/was equivalent of one of your local FCC guys, back many years ago they would do the CW tests for Ham Radio, 1st and 2nd Class PMG, they also investigated interference complaints and Radio and TV licencing inpections etc

It was the meaning of the Radio Inspector's words that they were close enough to an absolute test where they'd get faster after a few Orient runs.  Pity the new 3rd R/O who found an empty stool at the nearest bar to the ship in Hong Kong/VPS and how he would leave!
