Hard Work - To install a radiant extension!

Hi Folks! Wow, today I spent all my day trying to get some extension
working on radiant. It was awful. I couldn't put any.
Is that so difficult? I think the most part of extensions is outdated.
Someone knows what is happening?
I'm working with radiant 1.0.1 + rvm. I think I should work only with
0.9.1 to get all the stuff working.
What you can say about that?
