Lyrics plugin for 2.2 - making it work on 2.3.2

I found this Lyrics plugin: http://vasiliy.faronov.name/viewlyrics/

I wanted to try it, and if everything was fine, make it show other
information additionally, and I was just looking for some plugin
implementation that will do the work of making panel and I just
provide string to display.
Unfortunately, because of changes it does not work with 2.3.2 and I
don't know gtk, but just basic Python coding

I contacted author, and he kindly replied he'll look into, but no
news.
Code is 80 lines, so I guess experienced plugin developers would not
have problem to point to problem
