Please read first! - FAQ for QuickCursor 2.2
I've created these to answer some very recurring questions. Hopefully
this is faster and easier for everyone who stops by the forum. If you
are reporting a bug, please list what steps you take to reliably
reproduce the bug; if you have crash logs or console logs as well,
please send them to me (grey at
hogbaysoftware.com). Trying to fix a
bug we can't reproduce for ourselves is a losing battle and we'd like
to find a reproducible case for any new or recurring bug.
Thanks! -- Grey
QUICKCURSOR FAQ (current to version 2.2)
1. Can QuickCursor support (text editor of choice) in the future?
---------------------
Text editor app needs have support for the ODB Editor Suite for
QuickCursor to work with it; please contact the developer(s) of your
favorite text editor and ask them to add this in a future update.
Once the app can support QuickCursor, let us know so we can add it to
the list. Here's the link to an overview and the SDK:
http://www.barebones.com/support/develop/odbsuite.html
2. Why doesn't QuickCursor preserve Mail.app quote level bars after
shuttling text around?
---------------------
The quote level bars in Mail.app don't translate to plain text format
very well, which is why most text editors have trouble seeing them.
QuickCursor will work on selections of text, which for now is the best
workaround (avoid selecting quotes). The developers of TextMate have
figured out a way around this, and if we can find out more about this
we'll look into adding similar support.
3. When using QuickCursor to edit in TextMate, the text isn't pasted
back after saving and quitting TextMate.
---------------------
Current workaround: Close the window instead of quitting TextMate (cmd
+s, cmd+w instead of cmd+s, cmd+q). Unfortunately this appears to be a
bug behavior in TextMate; we've filed a bug report with them and
hopefully this issue gets fixed in an update. *Note: This may also
happen with WriteRoom 2.3.7; update to the 2.5b public beta from this
link:

4. Why does QuickCursor overwrite the contents of my clipboard?
---------------------
QuickCursor relies on the clipboard to move text in and out of the
'Edit in...' application. When pasting back the text into the original
app, the text stays in the clipboard in case the process fails for
some reason so you can still recover your work.
