Hi
Thanks for asking. Our view is that whatever you create is yours. Yes, we hold on to the rights to the code that makes the test work, but we require no payment or acknowledgement (although the latter is always appreciated).
So, please go ahead an use any exercises in your book and / or, website. Best of luck.

I have created 6 theory multiple-choice exercises, using Question Tools Editor 3.0.17. I was wondering, if it was OK for me to use them as support for the first chapter of a seven chapter book I intend to have published in the near future.

I have tried to switch on automatic move to the next question once the previous question has been clicked and submitted. Perhaps this feature can be improved so that when the user has answered a question the screen moves automatically to the next question. Also, I feel there is the potential here for animated characters to be used in some context. But maybe that’s too advanced at this stage and maybe a future development.

 Hi
Thanks for this. The idea of feedback popping up immediately would be a useful option. I am quite sure it would not suit some tests, but for others with a single answer on a screen I think it could work well.
Thank you.
Regards
Paul Booth
Question Tools Support

Hi I'm a primary English teacher in Bulgaria and your tool Question Tools has been very useful for me in preparing different kinds of exercises. Feedback is very important for young learners. Why don't it pop-up immediately after the answer has been clicked on? You can add different kinds of memory games, too:(matching words with pictures,or only matching pictures and so on).

 Hi
We've had requests for this feature in the past - where the user clicks on an answer and they are taken straight to the next question. We tried it a bit, but we felt that users would be concerned that they had not had an opportunity to review and check their answers.
You can move quickly between the screens using the arrow key on your keyboard, but I appreciate this is not the same thing. If we could think of a way of allowing this automatic movement without leaving users feeling unsettled and out of control then we would do it. So far we haven't come up with anything.

Flexibility in user interface design & Master page to maintain consistent

 Hi
Thanks for your suggestion. We are looking at ways of increasing the functionality on one hand, and yet making things more simple and obvious.
There is a way of creating template pages, and styles, but these are not obvious. I like your idea of master pages, which would presumably include some element of layout with visual appearance.

I believe, question tool 4.0 should be flexible in terms of designing an graphical User interface as jpgs or other formats and then importing into QT 4 for Master Page. QT 4.0 should have a master page for consistent page layout and design with a particular publication or test. I am thinking of QT 4 to be a more innovative and easy in making educational producats especially kids too, where User Interface must communicate with targerted client or audience, I believe

 Hi
It is possible to include videos in screens directly or in feedbacks. The quality of the video depends really on how it was originally encoded, and the playback being used.
It's true that we do not give a lot of support for controlling video. You can position it, size it and determine whether it starts automatically, or whether the user has any controls.

 Hi
The Professional Edition has a window with these in, under the Options menu. However, users of the Free Edition can still get to them by opening a text file called Characters.txt, which is usually here:
C:\Program Files\Question Tools\Settings\
All you have to do with the Characters window is click on a character you want and it appears in the text you are editing. If anyone can think of a better way then we'll certainly look into it. I wondered about something that could pop up as you type, but the problem is that something like this can get very irritating.

I need to be able to include French accents (i.e. latin characters) within an English language framework (i.e. without changing the operating language of QT to French). How do I access these charatres/symbols for screen/feedback text?

 Hi
We used to have something like this in version 2.0. It is a nice idea, but in reality gets complex to set up on network shares, etc. The best way of saving a result is via our NetSeries webservers.
I agree with you about some people not knowing where they saved a file. This is often made more complex because each user has her or his own folders, and access to shared or joint folders is often restricted because of security.
