New issue report by theentit...@netscape.net:
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. updating highscore list quadra crashes
2.
3.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expect to see updated version of highscores, instead quadra crashes and
turns multiple colors before shutting out entirely
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.2.0 / 1.1.8
windows xp
Please provide any additional information below.
this only occured with version 1.2.0 when i brought the new file from
1.1.8 into the folder to upload my level 52 game because it would crash
everytime using 1.1.8 to update. but now i have deleted the file out of
the folder and it still keeps crashing when updating.
Maybe a highscore list by version could be made available using 1.2.0 or
later versions, this could bring some new light to players playing single
player games again. You also made available a 5 minute sprint version,
there should be a highscore list for that?
Lets make that happen ? :D

I found the bug yesterday, a bit late, I think I managed to fix it in
r532. I'll see
about getting another release candidate out, and you can try that out.

Yes! We do! It was actually fixed in r532
(http://code.google.com/p/quadra/source/detail?r=532), which is
unfortunately after the revision from which the 1.2.0rc4 has been
built. You guys are just too good, you were making recordings that
were too big for some static buffer. :-P
The good news is that tomorrow, Stéphane and Rémi should be showing up
at my place, and while we would like to nail issue #66
(http://code.google.com/p/quadra/issues/detail?id=66), at the very
least we should be able to make a new release candidate with the fix
needed to update the highscores. With any luck, we'll fix the Vista
crash too, and it very well might be the last release candidate for
the stable release (of course, you guys could prove us wrong by
finding yet another killer bug?)...

Sorry for taking such a long time in replying, but even though I gave
you some information in the other reply (oh, and the bug was indeed
very old, nothing that was specific to 1.2), I was wondering what
version of 1.2 you found this with?
I just want to confirm that you're not using the version I think is
fixed in (which would mean it's not really fixed!).
Oh, and I'm not 100% sure, Stéphane or Rémi might be able to confirm
this, but I think Win98 might not be supported anymore? Although if
you tried the 1.2 version already, I might be wrong (I have very
little to do with Windows, my thing is more Linux and Mac OS X)!
Have fun!

Yeah, but the recordings that your Quadra is receiving from the server
are pretty big. Since I was using one of those problematic recording
for debugging, when I fixed it, it got on the server, and now it's
makes it that nobody (without the very newest version) can update
their highscores... I've got an idea, I'll fix this at some point,
sorry!

Hmm, since you couldn't run the recently build wadder.exe, that
doesn't sound too good for you... It'll be 10 years since Win98 was
released in a few days (in fact, it predates even the first version of
Quadra by almost a year), we can only support old platforms for so
long!
Maybe this would be a good time to switch to Linux? I've got Ubuntu on
a pretty old machine here, works pretty well... ;-)

I have to admit not being too savvy on the Windows black magic,
myself. I'll ask Stéphane today.
