Gordon,

We are headed in that direction. We have set up http://code.google.com/p/qsb-mac-plugins/
for a common repository for plugin storage and development. I would
be more than happy to add yourself and other plugin developers to the
committers list so that we could flesh out the site. I would love to
hear feedback from the plugin developers on manu j's list about moving
their plugins from the assorted repositories that they are currently
stored in to qsb-mac-plugins.

Some advantages we see:

a) one stop shopping for people looking for plugins
b) hopefully prevent bitrot because we could always be checking to
make sure plugins are up to date/working with latest code.
c) a centralized location for plugin developers to work from (and put
documentation).

What do you think? We are planning on moving some plugins that are
currently core QSB over there in the near future.

Cheers,
Dave

No interest by anyone? hmm.. that's unfortunate.

I fully appreciate the comment, and apologize for the lack of builds. If you check out

and

you will notice a reasonable flurry of activity recently, along with some pretty major changes. We are doing a lot of work looking to push the development of QSB more into the open source world so that there can be more input from outside developers. Along those lines we are looking at:

a) moving all reviews externally so people can comment on them
b) moving from our current perforce backend to working fully on the code.google.com subversion depot (right now I have a one-way auto synchronization system to move changes from p4 to svn).
c) moving to a different update mechanism

amongst other things.

Hopefully the Chrome beta has been treating you nicely in the meantime ;-)

Cheers,
Dave

I think a centralized place for Plugins/Documentation is a wonderful idea.  It would allow for a QuickSilver-like ability to browse available plugins from within QSB in theory, and would allow for a single spot for documentation.

IMHO, one of the reasons for a lackluster response to your query has been the (externally apparent) lack of updates and new builds.  I realize there were reasons (Chrome for Mac) the development slowed down, but I think this also slowed some of the early adopter momentum as well.   Hopefully we'll start seeing some new builds soon which might help to energize the community around this effort.

Definitely liking Chrome. Thanks !!

I have checked those sites, and am definitely aware that there is lots of activity going on.

I think the problem I was getting at is that most of this activity is not visible to the user community as a whole.   Posts like this one, or the one where you let everyone know about the developers being temporarily pulled to the Chrome project are helpful, and help maintain a sense of project vitality.   They also help set realistic expectations for everyone.

Looking forward to getting my hands on a new build soon.

Martin/Gordon thank you for responding.

I have added you to the committers list for http://code.google.com/p/qsb-mac-plugins/.

I have moved the StockTicker and the Twitter plugin source into that repository (and will be moving some others soon). I would love it if you would add your sources. Please follow the format that is already there with a trunk dir within a top level dir.

Once you are ready to submit, please file a review on the new qsb review tracker (that we will be moving to for all reviews real soon now)  at http://qsb-mac-reviews.appspot.com/ and we'll get that plugin source in there ASAP.

Sound good?

Any other plugin developers who wish to have their source up there (and I really want to encourage everyone to put it there) please contact me, and I will add you to the committers as well.

Cheers,
Dave
