I'm pretty much a newbie with gQSB, but I'm having a problem using one
of it's advertised features. I'm trying use it to see the contents of
my clipboard, following the instructions of the (very helpful!) Knol
page (http://knol.google.com/k/steven-combs/finder-integration-with-
google-quick/j2ku4uapiz7c/9#Clipboard), but every time I do, I get the
app utility Clipboard Viewer (v 1.3). As far as I can tell, this
seemingly built in app won't show me my clipboard history. I'm not
sure what the "clipboard option" is, but I don't seem to be getting
it.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Terry,

First thanks for the kinds comments and glad you like the Knol. Can I
ask what version of OS X you are using and also, is the Clipboard
Viewer the only option listed?

Thanks for the quick response. I'm using 10.6.2. Although I get other
options with the first few letters I type, none of them is my
clipboard and Clipboard Viewer is always the first choice. By the time
I've typed "clipbo", my only option is Clipboard Viewer.

I had a similar problem at first. You invoke the clipboard history by
typing the entire word "clipboard." QSB doesn't search for it the same
way it does for a file or app.

Cheers, Alex

Alex,
Thanks for the suggestion. I wish I could say that it worked, but
I've tried it and, sadly, it didn't. I also have a MacBook, about a
month old and relatively pristine. It's not working on that one
either. I'm beginning to think it's something about me.

Sorry! My reply didn't seem to have posted, so I didn't add a
retraction. My initial experience was that I had to go all the way to
the full word the first time. But it does indeed now work with just
clip. So I think (unhelpfully) there _is_ something about your set-up.
Are plugins working?

I'm on a MBP running 10.6.2 with gQSB build 2.0.0.1674.

I agree, there's probably something wrong with my set up. As a point
of reference, I appear to be running build 2.0.0.1447. I just
uninstalled, downloaded a new version (which was the same as what I
had) and reinstalled. No improvement. I should say, however that my
uninstall apparently wasn't clean because the new install still had my
previous preferences. On the other hand, you seem to be using a later
version, judging from the numbers, even though I just downloaded mine
today.

As far as plug ins go, when I look "under the hood" in Preferences,
all the boxes are checked. I'm not sure how I'd know, beyond that, if
the preferences are working. Which plug in controls clipboard access?

I believe the Clipboard access was added in the 1674 beta build.  That may be your problem.

Bingo! That was it. I uninstalled the original version and installed
the 1674 Beta there it was. Thanks very much Matt, and other
contributors. Just for future reference, it might be worth making a
note on the Knol page that one needs to be running the appropriate
beta of gQSB in order for that functionality to work properly.
Thanks again everyone,
