I've taken some inspiration from Chris's recent QDisplay project, and wanted to share a little utility I put together yesterday that might occasionally be useful. It's called Timecode Display, and it ... does pretty much what it implies.
More specifically, it listens to all MIDI sources that are available on the computer, looking for MIDI Timecode (as well as MMC Timecode and MMC Goto messages), and then displays the incoming timecode (and framerate) on a floating HUD window that you can resize as big as you want it. No configuration necessary -- it automatically listens to every MIDI source it can find.
Potential use scenarios:
- Launch on a slave machine to get instant debugging of incoming MTC
- Run alongside Lockstep for a bigger display of incoming LTC
- Use a clever configuration of IAC busses and MIDI Patchbay to monitor outgoing timecode from QLab
You can download it here: http://figure53.com/downloads/TimecodeDisplay.zip
Hope you find it useful!
Cheers,
Sean
