Hi all,
I'll be finishing my employment at my current company in the beginning of
July, and looking for a new position. Preferably in a startup or a small
company.
My "official" experience is 2 years of Python and Django development; and
10+ years of "unofficial" experience with developing other stuff.

I'm trying to get the following regex to match full words in Hebrew unicode strings:

word = re.compile(r'\bמילה', re.U) # note the unicode flag

… but not succeeding in actually matching my words against that pattern.

What am I doing wrong? Shouldn't it be possible to find word boundaries (\b) in unicode strings?

I'm not a web-guy, but it seems that nowadays most frameworks come with
their own WSGI supporting web server, and apps with a standalone "serve"
mode typically use one of these (e.g. ipython uses Tornado).
Werkzeug has a "serving" module, which will probably fill the missing
functionality with less overkilling (Hatta wiki uses this).

I am indeed after something similar. Except that I'd like to run the
script in almost-standalone mode.
In other words, together with at most one more script, which will open a
socket and listen to HTTP requests there. Much like the standalone mode
of running a Django application.

You're asking for solution for a problem with legacy code and then stating that the obvious (and easiest) solution is an overkill.
Not sure where you're heading with this.

If you feel like it, migrate your code to a proper WSGI container, and then you'll have lots of other options.
Else, just deploy it on any Apache instance you can find.

something similar, you may try searching for alternatives for google set
if I'm not mistaken delicious and/or sumbleupon may give you related links,

So, there are a few different ways to tackle this. There's no one-size-fits-all approach.

JSON is a lot more convenient to work with on the clientside, but D3 offers tools for loading CSV in a fashion that removes most of the pain, so long as you include a header row, and all of the column names are valid javascript identifiers (e.g. english, don't start with a digit, no spaces, etc).

Thanks - i am looking for a client side solution and d3 seems a very good
option. how do you transfer the data from django to d3? - csv or json (or
other)? i might have to transfer a big chunk of data so my inclination is
to use csv but would be hppy to get pros and cons of that

first of all you need to question yourself if you want to do this server
side or client side.
If server side I believe you can use any python lib like matplotlib.
If client side something like d3 could be useful
