Re: add a link to the "major" release on the Download area

Hi,

I'm missing something here - Python(x,y)-XXXXX is always the full release (It can also be used as an upgrade). I was under the impression that the problem was users were getting into the mirror and downloaded the update (py(x,y)-XXXXXX) instead of the full package.

In an case - Current Release _always_ lists the full packages.

Does the above reflects your experience?

For a new installation of Python(x,y), first install version 2.7.3.0, and then update to 2.7.3.1:

If this is too elaborate a change, at least mentioning that the base installation (2.7.3.0) for the current version (2.7.3.1) can be found in the Mirror links would be very helpful to beginners!

Hi Gabi,

Actually, it looks like I'm the one missing something. In previous versions, the "required" version had to be pre-installed before the latest version would install. I just put python(x,y) on someone's computer today, and was able to directly install 2.7.3.1 without installing 2.7.3.0 first. Apparently the issue I'm referring to was fixed many versions ago. Sincerest apologies for taking up your time!
