Hi,

I'm new to this gang, so apologies if this is out of scope - it's
not directly python related, but as python is good for pulling
things together quite quickly, it is somehow relevant, I think.

I'm trying to see if there might be interest in Dublin to have
a startup weekend:

http://startupweekend.org/

The point is to try to spend a weekend (more or less) coding
to get some kind of a demo working (preferably beta launch
ready) over the course of a weekend. Of course, it's only
suited to certain types of apps, but there are quite a few of
them!

The originators behind the plan claim that it's a great way to
get cool people together and that people keep coming back.
They also claim it's lots of fun. As I've never been involved,
I can't attest to either claim, but I'd be interested in finding
out.

Any others out there who might be interested in giving it a
go? If so, we need to get votes for Dublin up to 75 before
they will give us their stamp of approval. (Of course, we
could do it without their stamp, but I think they've thought
it out and I guess they have some experience that shows that
if 75 people declare an interest, something good may happen).

If you're interested, just vote and if the vototmeter hits 75,
we can take it to the next step.

Best rgds,
Seán.

Hi Jennifer,

Just vote at:

http://startupweekend.org/

Note that there are now two entries for Dublin -
one capitalized and one not - I've asked the website
maintainers to rectify this.

Rgds,
Seán.

This looks like a fantastic idea. I've voted for Dublin.

Looks like there are now 5 Dublins, combined they are doing fairly well.

Hi guys,

I voted for Dublin as well.

Ciao,

Kevin.

Hi all,

If you voted yesterday and you voted for 'dublin' (with lower
case d), could you please check back and vote for 'Dublin' -
there were duplicate entries for Dublin, which got cleaned up,
but they just ditched all votes for 'dublin', meaning that quite
a few votes got discarded. Go here if you want to vote again:

http://startupweekend.org/

(There were also some contrarians who voted for 'my arse' -
I guess we won't be seeing them if it does go ahead :-)

Thanks,
Seán.

Just revoted. Hmmm... Maybe a bit of backend validation would be a good startupweekend.org project for startupweekend.org

:-)
