Hi,

I am having coffee at l1.00 on IRC, why not join me.

irc://irc.freenode.net/python.ie

If there are beginners/novices on the list, you are welcome to join us.

We generally are heavy on Coffee and light on python.

On Friday, Diarmuid, Dublin Dan, Steve, Brian, Fernando and myself found
out what each other were doing.

In Pidgin,

Go to Acccounts > Manage Accounts
Click Add
Select IRC as the protocol
irc.freenode.net as the server
enter a username (any name you like, you dont have to register it
anywhere)
Then save

When it connects to the server type

/join #python.ie

and the python.ie chatroom should come up in a new tab

Pidgin is a bit awkward when it comes to irc
I prefer xchat myself

Sean

Anyone for Coffee? 11am.

No topic, just enjoy the coffee and be positive about the world.

Julie suggested this link for an browser based reader...

http://webchat.freenode.net?channels=python

This kicks off my IRC client

Yesterday, over coffee myself and Sean came up with the idea about Python
talks outside the community. We haven't got the time to put together a
half hour talk about Python.

Instead what we could do is get 5 people to do 5 minutes each, e.g. this
is a problem I had and I solved with Python. The effect of 5 such
presentations in a 30 minute slot would give a good feel for Python and
maybe create an interest in finding out more,

If you are interested in discussing this join us for a Coffee in IRC at
11am today or Monday, or email a response on the list.

Thanks,

Kevin
