Getting to intermediate

Looking for information on the web is like trying to get a glass of
water from the Niagara Falls.

Can anyone recommend any online resources (articles, tutorials, and
particularly excercises) that have helped you get from beginner to
intermediate with Python programming. I have a copy of Python
Essential Reference, and I check the official documentation, but I see
these as just that, references.

There are a number of good Python books out there, for example http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920003434.do

There is also the very useful mailing list: http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/tutor

There are very helpful people on that list, I used to find it very useful to just read other people's questions and the answers which followed them.

And there is the Python tutorial: http://docs.python.org/tutorial/

It really helps if you have a project in mind.

Stackoverflow, showmedo videos, even videos from Python/Pycon Ireland contains Python-related technologies which you might use in your project(s) or try out.

Also check out http://python.ie/about/ as a starting point.
