Tog.ie are running an Introduction to Python Programming class

We are running a new class on learning how to program using Python, for complete beginners with no previous programming knowledge. The course will cover basic programming skills, which will also give you a better understanding of how computers work. At the end of the course you will know how to write simple programs, and you should have enough understanding of the basics to move on to either more complex programming tasks in Python or learn another language if you wish to. Python is the perfect first language because it is simple yet powerful, and extremely readable.
The course will begin on August 23rd and will run for 5 weeks every Monday from 7.00pm to 9.30pm. The cost will be €30 for non-members, and free for members.

I was going to post this here tonight, I got a bit sleepy writing blog
posts last night. I'm going to be the one teaching that course,
although please note this isn't a Python course, it's an introduction
to programming that happens to be using Python as the language :) (If
you know someone who's always kinda wanted to learn some code but
never did, point them to the course!)
The response has been quite er overwhelming already. This fits right
into Kevin's community talk, Irish people are really eager to learn
Python, if you were wondering!

Thanks, Paul. This is a very short course and we won't be using a

This is a great initiative.
I will be keen to monitor how you are getting on. I am particularly
interested in how to teach and motivate people who are new to programming.
Have you a course outline that you are working from? Your five week plan
is pretty specific.
How can Python Ireland help? If you are coming on Wednesday next lets have
a chat.

I'll likely be blogging weekly about the course (I'll be learning
too!), as I did when I taught sort-of-the-same to a group of
teenagers. I'm happy to chat on Wednesday, I'll be at the meetup!
