Personally I don't think there is much to be gained from doing so
since we don't get _that_ much spam on the list, and when we do, I
usually delete and ban those users within a few short hours. There are
now 18 banned (for spam) members on the list, but we've had over 25
new members join since April 2009. If we were to require moderation,
would it not increase the barrier to entry? At some point in time
if/when spam levels rise this may be a requirement, but do we really
need it now?

Aye, I get far more spam from other places, that any spam on this list
isn't even noticeable.

I for one have found that my sales of weight loss medicine and penis
enlargement pills has increased since I started spa..posting on this list.
Seriously: I don't think its a problem yet, I can only remember seeing spam
here maybe three times. In the future, it may be more of a problem, in which
case we can moderate new users. For now though, I think its fine the way it
is.

Leveraging dynamic paradigms since the synergies of 1985.
I think the spam is pretty low on this list as well. I don't like the idea
of moderating anyone, this group has always been open for anyone to join,
and doing so might discourage people coming to the list. I think it's fine
the way it is also.
Cheers,
