Hey ...

I'm new to Python, and stumbled on this local (to me) user group.

Not much activity here!  Maybe there's a new "home"??

It seems things have been quiet for a while. People get busy I guess. I'm
not aware of a new home for Calgary python.

I lurk here too. I'm sure there are more than a few of us. If people
want to start posting again, i'm listening.

... lurking here as well. There are myself and two other fellows I work
with that have been wanting to get a meeting going again. Have an office in
the belt-line with a decent meeting space. Beer Revolution within 50 metres
of the front door :) for aprčs-meeting banter.

It's not python specific but Tony Grimes runs pixels and pints and
they seem really active socially. Might hold some crossover interest.

I talked to Tony a year ago about doing a bit of a crossover for the first
couple of (relit) meetings to generate interest on both sides. I dropped
the ball and never followed it up.

How about a round of introductions just to see who's still here and
what you interest in python is?

I'll start: I'm Mike, i use python daily in my work here at
http://www.structuredabstraction.com/

I'm active on twitter as @msimoens and i like meeting new people
socially, although my social calendar is quite full these days with
family obligation, social media meetups, and volunteer activities with
organizations like http://calgaryCGC.org and http://calgaryreads.com

You can count on me to keep lurking but getting together face to face
can be a bit of a scheduling challenge for me.

Oh, i'm also a member (read: supporting lurker) of the local hacker
space http://protospace.ca

M.

Also lurking,
I have a small group of python users doing analytics and Django based
auditable data collection systems here at the UC.
Would love to engage likeminded people for some of our more narrow scope
questions.

I don't use python and don't even live in Calgary anymore...

:)

Seriously, though -

I'm Stephen, and my programming knowledge is limited to bash scripting,
but I've tinkered with python a bit and it always seemed cool to me.
Unfortunately, I haven't made the time to learn it. Still, I never
bothered to unsubscribe from this group, so...

I'm an avid Gentoo user, and the portage package manager is built almost
entirely in Python.

Cheers

-Stephen-

@all-pythoncalgary-lurkers

Thanks for crawling out of your keyboards and into cyberspace ... lol

The Calgary Python hacker community LIVES!!!!!

I'm a hobbyist hacker - since 1982 AAMOF - fluent in Perl and PHP, but
always test-driving new languages in the hope of finding "my one, true
native tongue". lol

I kinda like newLisp and Python at the moment. Since the Web first made its
appearance, my hacking efforts have focused almost exclusively on *it*.
