Hey everybody, a month ago the OpenPilot.org folks sought permission
to use the PyMite VM as the high-level scripting layer for their open-
source unmanned arial vehicle system. Of course the VM is open
source; they were just being polite.

So, I've been looking at the OpenPilot (OP) code and I found a *very*
well-written hardware abstraction layer that they call PiOS. The PIOS
provides an API to peripherals like I2C, SPI and PWM; as well as one-
level-above peripherals like SD Cards and Servos. While the only
microcontroller it's been ported to is the STM32, PiOS has also been
ported to POSIX and Windows.

My review is very preliminary, but I am definitely putting PIOS on the
short list of ways to make the higher layers of p14p (a.k.a. a way to
make python-level functions that operate on peripherals and SD + DOS-
like-FileSystem). If you're inclined to low-level C, take a peek at
the PiOS* directories and let me know what you think:
