Hi,

I have prepared two folders here containing binary build of PythonOgre.

One is 479MB with binary stuff you need to work on PO projects, and another about 2.9GB with entire build system you can use to make modifications to Ogre, OIS and friends. Also I need to satisfy LGPL: I slightly modified OIS to correct a few critical bugs in its code (e.g. modifying vector while iterating over it, if I remember correctly) and adding possibility to ungrab mouse pointer on OSX.

They were made on a Leopard system, but work on Snow Leopard and can be used to produce releases for Tiger. Panther is not targeted. These are based on rev 996 of PythonOgre, Ogre 1.6.1 and boost 1.38. More info on wiki in article OSXBuildV2.

I'll probably take some more time to produce a third, source-only folder containing only the LGPLed stuff that were used: Ogre, OIS, PythonOgre, and containing all our integrated modifications, so it may be some time before I upload these.

Now the point of this early announcement; a question:
I have a place to upload them, but I don't think I should be hosting a download service for something so big since my host is a non-profit. Andy, are you interested in hosting these files on Python-Ogre.org or wherever other files are hosted?

Hello, I'm very interested on this... :)

Thanks

Not  yet. I'll try and remember to upload them this evening when I'm in LAN with the server. I'll probably put them as .torrent which Ill kindly ask others to seed.

Hi,

I'll put it up and everyone will be very welcome to re-host it :-D

If it were something small I'd go and host it perpetually, but this host where I'll initially put this up is a non-profit and I don't want to put burden on them.

Cateia will probably host these as well, later on.

Hello everyone,

you can grab the .torrent here:

Total size is 3.13GB. If you download everything please seed for as long as possible. If you don't need Developer.dmg or you don't intend to seed, please don't download it. This reduces the download size to about 400mb.

This is also available via HTTP but I'd really prefer if you guys just torrented it, for now, because it's less of an impact if enough people are downloading. If you really really want to fetch via HTTP: uggc://vina.ihpvpn.arg/choyvp/ClgubaBter%20Znp%20(Pngrvn)/

This includes only Ogre, CEGUI and OIS, because we only needed those modules. For video, I'd like to recommend Ogre3D Video Plugin:
which doesn't even need a Python wrapper because it's implemented as a plugin for Ogre.

This is based around svn rev 996 and documented on wiki in OSXBuildV2.

Hope this helps someone. Post your thoughts. I can post some very basic help for getting started, if needed.

What are you including in the file that makes is so big??  In my testing the generated ogre modules and libraries on the Mac should compress down to about 100mb or so ???

I have included entire root/usr/ which amounts to 380mb. Out of that, PythonOgre itself amounts to 160mb. boost include files in root/usr/include are 58mb. (All of these sizes uncompressed.)

Maybe it could be slimmed down, but PythonOgre is not my primary personal interest :-)
