Hello everyone and welcome to our new discussion home.
After a long debate on the name we've finally picked one and can now move on to the more important issues.
So let's get back to Yannick Gingras 7 points.
1) The goal of an organizer isn't to get people on a stage.. it is to get people to talk together -> Let's talk about our main goals in a separate thread.
2) If you have a stage... nothing beats lightning talks
3) Locations is everything. -> Let's talk about this in a separate thread.
4) Don't do it alone. -> Share this group with your fellow python developer friend/colleagues
5) You need money.-> For now we are able to receive 250$ from the PSF. But it would be opportune to also look for sponsors.
6) Experiment. -> That's for later.
7) Work with other user groups. -> Maybe we can share things with the Holland user group, Wim who was on LinkedIn is part of this group. Maybe he is willing to help us out here ?
Other things to consider:
* Legal entity -> I believe Robrecht will take care of this, can you confirm ? Please use another thread for this too.
* Website -> If anyone has any ideas about the website , please feel free to start a new thread.
* First event -> I see two main possibilities here, an informal meet-up in a bar to get to know each other and talk in real live about the user group or an actual event. If you have any comments on this, again, use a different thread.
* If there are things I'm forgetting here, please feel free to share your ideas with us.
Small note:
There exists a mailing list for python user group organizers, if anyone is interested you can subscribe at: http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/group-organizers
I hope we will have lot's of fun and share great ideas together.
Best regards,
Jonas.
