Tabix support

Hi,
First off, thank you for pysam. I find it to be incredibly useful
in my daily work. I am wondering if there is any intent to also
support tabix in the pysam release? I ask because I am the developer
for bedtools and I currently have not (nor do I really know how to)
developed a Python interface to the bedtools API. Tabix is a nice
alternative that would allow one to quickly compare BAM alignments to
annotations in order to develop rather sophisticated analysis
pipelines.

In short, do you plan to include tabix support in the pysam release?

Also, any interest in developing an interface to bedtools ;)

Hi Aaron,

sorry for the late reply. I am using bedtools myself, thanks for
providing it.
However, due to time constraints I do not think I will be able to
provide
a python interface to it.

I have not used tabix, there seems to be a tabix.py in the samtools/
tabix
distribution. Have you had a look at that?
